A Project Overview

The Wonderful People Podcast project was designed to be a platform for participation, inspiration and authentic communication. This took the form of a physical free to access Podcasting space; a learning programme and assessment for safe self directed upskilling; a sharing platform to amplify the forming of connections and potential benefits of participation culture. 

Designed as an opportunity for participation offering an access point to the EOED participation project in Barking & Dagenham which is less demanding and more accessible than practical session which require a lot more physical movement.

One of the most natural and most common forms of participation has and continues to be the act of holing conversation.

By grounding the creation of this podcast space and learning curriculum in participation theory, residents gained the opportunity to tell and share their own stories and even be supported in learning how to share their new skills with other residents too.

The addition of this podcasting functionality also helped to introduced digital creation to the range of creative participation opportunities on offer, which increased the number of younger people engaging regularly with the participation project.

Through collaborations, we found that the presence of this free to access podcasting space also ex[anded the capacity of local organisations hoping to amplify resident voices too.
